In this sermon, we see Gideon’s disastrous ending as the author of Judges brings the Gideon cycle to a close. Marked by interpersonal conflict, ruthless vengeance, hypocrisy, disobedience, idolatry, and sinful presumption, Gideon’s final scene in his life and legacy is not one for us to follow. Indeed, it is one for us to learn from so that we might not make the same mistakes. In this sermon, we learn lessons from Gideon’s disastrous ending so that we, as God’s people, might run our race well, finishing strong in faithfulness to our God.
