Teenagers are at a very important stage of life. Between hormone changes, challenges at school, and questions of identity, there is a lot to sort through!
With this in mind, the Youth Ministry at GBC is devoted to ministering to these teenagers — between 7th and 12th grade — in our church. The youth ministry, together with all of the ministries in our church, seeks to partner together to accomplish our five-fold purpose:
- Exalting God’s Grace
- Growing God’s People
- Reaching God’s World
- Preaching God’s Word
- Modeling God’s Love
In order to accomplish this, there are a variety of resources and events for the youth at GBC
SUNDAY SCHOOL — SUNDAY MORNINGS — 9:30-10:30am
We meet together on Sunday mornings from 9:30-10:30am for our primary time of gathering together as teenagers — Sunday School. For our Sunday School study, we will usually do more topical studies, such as going through a book together or looking at a particular doctrine or topic. We have looked at a study on Francis Chan’s Crazy Love, a year-long study through the Heidelberg Catechism, and The Gospel Project’s Chronological Bible Study
WEDNESDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY — 6:00-7:30pm
On Wednesday nights, we gather together in a more informal setting than Sunday morning to study the Bible, learn core truths to the Christian faith, and grow in our practical understanding of God’s Word and applying it to our lives. This Bible study is open to everyone, from adults to teenagers to children. We also offer a nursery through age 4 during this time.
FAMILY EVENTS — Various
Throughout the year we schedule events that are intended not only to allow the teens to have fun, but also to encourage and equip parents in their role as the primary influence in their children’s lives. Sometimes these events are pure fun, sometimes they are instructive, and sometimes a mixture. But every time, they are intended to bring the family together and equip the family to be better disciple-makers in the home.
